Just wanted to let everyone know our current status.  Unfortunately we have had a few owners fall out this year.   I am currently in the process of recruiting to fill these open teams.  Once we fill the league, we can schedule free agency.

In the mean time, if you haven't yet, please be sure to have your contract decisions posted so we can move quickly once the league is filled.

Also, if you know of anyone interested in playing, let me know.

Thanks

OK, everyone.  This has taken a little longer than expected.  We are really working to get some good replacements.  I do not feel good about starting Free Agency Monday.  We have a few good conversations going right now.  Let's plan to start Saturday morning, March 2nd, at 8:00am EST.  If we fill the openings early this week and we can start earlier we will but I know people want to plan.

I apologize for continuing to push this out.  The good news is our original timeline was aggressive and early so we are not behind.  We will only have 3 round of free agency so we will be able to complete that before the season starts.

Again, sorry for this process dragging on but we will be in good shape soon!

Being one of the Newbies how does the major league FA process work?  I know it is here on this site correct? Do FA players get nominated and then Managers that want them bid? Process just not clear from reading the rules and not having witnessed it before...sorry if these are dumb questions!

We have 3 rounds.  General rule, only players not on a roster and are considered MLB players (crossed the 130AB/50 inning) threshold apply.

1st round is the matching round.  The only players eligible to be bid on this round are players that were set as matching in each teams contract decisions.  Anyone can nominate the player for bid.   Once a bid has stood for 24 hours, the team that designated the player as matching will have 24 hours to match or decline.  If you match you get the player at the winning bid.  If you decline the team that won the bid wins the player.  However, you can only match 2 of the 3.  So in theory you can bid on your own matching players in this round for a variety of reasons.  The main one being you have used your 2 matches and want to retain the player you will have to win them.  But if only you wish to retain 2 of them it doesn't make sense to bid on your own matching free agent because you're just increasing the price.  Also, you aren't required to match any of them.  You can let them all go if you want.

2nd round is Hitters and the 3rd round is Pitchers.  Anyone can nominate a player in these round also and the same rules apply besides the matching clause.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Believe I have it!  After the 3 rounds I take it that any one not on a fantasy team are then FAs eligible for selection by anyone after a waiver period?
Thanks!

Yes, that is what we call in season free agency.  Pretty much the same rules but you can't assign option contracts on in season contracts.
