After free agency pickups

[Shrewsbury Big Flies]

Can someone clarify if, and how, we can pick up free agents who are not nominated for auction during the next rounds?  Does free agency close and we can pick them up anytime, or is free agency always open and we bid then as we do now, even if it is mid season?
