Jim and I feel we were a little short sighted when setting the roster limit so we want to change it to 250 from 210. The increase is going to be to the max number of Minor league players which increases from 170 to 210. The 40 man MLB limit stays the same.
The reason for the change is we are going to draft 80 players in minor league dispersal draft and then 25 more this summer in the First Year Player Draft (amateur draft). That gives us 105 this year. We'll draft another 40 total minor league players each season after that. Keeping with a 170 minor league player max, everyone would have to drop players in year 3 just draft. That doesn't include if you make any trades to acquire prospects for picks.
We felt the limit was to strict and wouldn't give the proper amount of time for some of the initial prospects to move through your system and would force some unnecessary tough decisions in year 3.

I like the change...it's now much closer to what an average major league organization has.
(for example, the Phillies have teams in AAA,AA,High A, LowerA,shortA, US instructional lg,DSL, and VL)
(8 teams X's approxiately 25 players/team =200 players per organization). Good change IMO.
What will be the draft order for the FYPD?
Good question. I personally thought it would be based on the mid-season standings.

yeah I think the standing midseason should determine it, at least for this year.
